If you’re not familiar with FBML, it’s Facebook Markup Language, which was used for the apps that created all the Welcome pages, sales page, squeeze pages and more and was supposed to go away March of 2011…. well that was the plan anyway.
It’s been like those old westerns where the guy gets shot and takes 10 minutes to die! This has been a long slow death.
Facebook had announced the change early in 2011 and I had started work on developing my iFame software based on iframes which Facebook said would replace FBML for all incoming apps. But FBML never went away and nothing more was said.
Then in late 2011 Facebook announced that they would no longer support or fix any bugs on FBML apps as of Jan 1, 2012. Uhhhhh… it’s now June and the old FBM apps I created are still up and running; but not for long.
January 1 has now turned into July 5th. So at least at this point as of July 5 of this year if you an FBML app as a Welcome tab or sales page of some kind it will disappear.
To help you prepare for that iFame is now fully functional App and page creation software based on iFrames and on my secure site to meet Facebook’s regs. So if you need to create new pages in preparation, iFame (Facebook Advanced Marketing Education) and Fan Page Creation software might just be the ticket for you.
Go check it out at http://bit.ly/FacebookAdvancedMarketingEd I’d love to hear what you think about it.
